and now try the same thing with a very long line….

If you did it the first time the dog might walk back, but he wouldn’t have a clue what he did wrong or what he’s supposed to do. By having him sit repeatedly, than showing your dismay when he didn’t he learns. Not saying this is the best method, just wanted to point that out.

There is no reason why a dog shouldn’t walk ahead of a person. That ‘dominance’ crap that Milan and other uneducated fools push is….well…crap.

Uh…ok then. Ian Dunbar is LEGEND in the R+ training word, a prolific author, the first to recommend training for puppies as soon as their eyes open, a DVM, and Ph.D. in animal behavior. Now, what are your credentials? Likely the same as that knob Ceasar Milan — none.

come on! are you serious?! so you think the poor dog has any idea what you wanted from him?! just traumatizing the dog about street does not show him his boundries! if i would make those sounds the very first time, the dog would walk back right away! the funny part is that at the end the dog is totally in command and he is NOT. if you notice the dog is walking ahead of him and pulling him. that is the first thing you learn in dog training

Wow. I never thought to do this. Thank you very much to Dr. Ian Dunbar and to whomever filmed this. I have taught my dog to wait at the door, but never this. It will be helpful because everyone speeds in this neighborhood. There are kids, babies, and animals around… yet people by at like 40 mph. We are not even on a main road. No one knows how to drive slower than 25 it seems.
